Don’t let it get to you

“Words can inspire and words can destroy. Choose yours well.”    (Robin Sharma)

Words they say are like a sword; just like they can kill you with happiness if used wisely, they can shatter you into pieces. Others say they have more power than an atomic bomb. While you could be a blessing, you could be someone’s heartache/nightmare. They are free but it’s how you use them that can cost you. So what do you choose; bless someone with your words or curse them?

I believe we go through some situations that can actually make us grow mad; I mean you just find yourself screaming and saying all sorts of horrible things out of anger. But have you just sat for a moment and wondered how the other person felt? You might be hurt, disappointed, disgusted and you name it. Yes, we all do make mistakes and they could be so childish, wrong, heartbreaking etc but those words you say, how helpful will they be at the moment? Will the situation change? You’ll tell me ‘if I don’t say these things he won’t understand how bad his actions are‘. Good and fine for the Bible even says ” He who withholds his rod hates his son but he who loves him disciplines him diligently.“( Proverbs 13.24)  While you could be an examplary parent, sister, friend etc do not forget that the words you sow, you shall reap. That child who made a mistake definitely needs reprimand and comfort at the same time. Be strict on him if necessary but mind your words because while he may forget the times you thrashed him for his failures, he will never forget those hurtful words you said to him. And if he doesn’t have a strong mental, do not be surprised your child/friend/sister/brother ends up having a low self-esteem. If you keep saying  ‘You are good for nothing, you’re not worth it, you’ll never be somene in life, you can’t do this, you can’t do that‘ how many times do you think you’ll say that before he starts believing it? Once is enough to completely change someone and his perception of himself with your words so choose them carefully. You can change your world by changing you words. Remember, “death and life are in the power of the tongue and those who love it will eat it’s fruit.“(Proverbs 18:21)

As for you who receives those words, DO NOT LET THEM GET TO YOU! We are all humans and we do make mistakes. We break, we fall but that’s how we grow; that’s how we learn. When God created you, He made you in His image, same way, perfect and whatever you face was planned. Yes, sometimes in life we create our problems but the problem is not the problem, but our attitude towards the problem. So no one has the right to say you are nobody for we were wonderfully made with a purpose and even if you feel like nothing’s working out for you, you’ll get there eventually. Just never give up and trust in God. Everything will fall in place and never lose sight of your dream for while they see you as crazy, you will come out glorious and stronger than before. Just never forget that.

So, no matter what you may be going through, let no one try to break u down, let no words of hurt, curse, hate, anger get to u. And when those words do come at you, respond with silence for it kills to see someone you’re trying to break be as silent as a tomb. And if you’re to say anything, just say thank you. Even if they aren’t your blessing with their words, be theirs with your words. But no matter what, don’t let it get to u.
